New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code
Enforcement Certification Levels
New York State Code Compliance Technician
Designed for code enforcement and fire inspection personnel.
Requires six hours of in-service training annually to maintain certification
To receive certification, the applicant must attend the Code Compliance Technician program and pass an examination at the conclusion, OR
The applicant must attend all 3 of the following courses and pass an examination at the conclusion of each.
Required Training:
- Introduction to Code Enforcement Practices Part 1, and
- Introduction to Code Enforcement Practices Part 2, and
- Inspection Procedures for Existing Structures
Code Compliance Technician Certification Application Form
New York State Code Enforcement Official
Designed for code enforcement personnel employed by local and county governments.
Required for personnel commencing employment after January 1, 1985.
Requires 24 hours of in-service training annually to maintain certification.
To receive certification, the applicant must attend all 6 of the following courses and pass an examination at the conclusion of each.
Required Training:
- Introduction to Code Enforcement Practices Part 1, and
- Introduction to Code Enforcement Practices Part 2, and
- Inspection Procedures for Existing Structures, and
- General Construction Principles, and
- Residential Code of New York State, and
- Building Code of New York State
