The commission consists of three members appointed by the governor. In addition, there is a physician and the Medical Advisory Board.
Physical examinations of applicants for licensing, including boxers, wrestlers and officials are required by law. Our guidelines mandate that all boxing and wrestling events includes the participation of New York State licensed physicians and the inclusion of Emergency Medical Personnel on the premises. The licensed physicians examine boxers for injuries post-fight for injuries and issue suspension when indicated.
