The Department of State announces the availability for public review and comment of New York State=s revised draft Section 309 Combined Assessment and Strategy for 2011 - 2015. The Combined Assessment and Strategy is a public document, prepared by the State's Coastal Management Program (CMP) for approval by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in order for the State to be eligible for federal Section 309 funding in FY2011-2015.

6/8/2011 - New York Secretary of State approves plans for Quebec to New York power line to supply green energy
On June 8, 2011, the proposal by Champlain Hudson Power Express to install a high voltage power line from Quebec to downstate New York, running under Lake Champlain and parts of the Hudson River, was determined by NYS Secretary of State Cesar A. Perales to be consistent with policies of the New York Coastal Management program. The approval is contingent on specific project modifications to protect navigation and other users of the waterways, as well as critical Hudson River habitat. The proposed project aims to provide lower cost, hydroelectric energy to the downstate area.
