Communities + Waterfronts brings a broad perspective and understanding of local and regional development trends and opportunities. Working in partnership with developers and communities, Communities + Waterfronts helps envision and execute development and redevelopment projects that lead to sustainable communities and healthy ecosystems.
Our programs assist developers in two specific areas:
Technical Guidance and Regulatory Compliance helps developers through the maze of local, state and federal standards and guidelines regarding protection of natural resources and to make sound decisions about development proposals that affect coastal areas and inland waterways.
Community Development and Sustainability programs to help developers and communities partner to make the public improvements necessary for development to succeed and have a positive and lasting benefit in a community. Resources include Environmental Protection Fund Local Waterfront Revitalization Program; Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program; Smart Growth Initiative, Local Government Efficiency; Appalachian Regional Development Program and New York City Watershed Protection and Partnership Council.
