People We Serve

Serving Regional Organizations

Communities + Waterfronts works with regional organizations to facilitate collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders involved in regional and community planning, service delivery, economic development and natural resource management projects. We provide support and resources to provide a regional context and help organizations initiate development projects, locate complementary funding sources, and coordinate activity with government and other entities to get things done.

We offer assistance in these specific areas:

Community Revitalization programs and resources to encourage sustainable economic development and natural resource protection that will have positive, lasting benefits for a region.

Government Efficiency programs that provide technical and financial assistance to help municipalities in a region identify and increase competitiveness through efficiencies and cost savings initiatives, including government functional analysis and reorganization, inter-municipal cooperation and regional service delivery.

Local Government Training to assist regional organizations educate members of planning boards, zoning boards of appeals, local governing boards, and others learn about how to plan and effectively implement land use regulation for their municipalities. DOS staff with a background in land use planning provide information about annual training requirements as well as the training itself and respond to questions about land use planning, regulation, and local governance.

Identifying Funding Sources and Grant Opportunities to address specific community or resource issues and advance community revitalization or resource management plans in a regional context.
