The statutory responsibility for promulgating and maintaining code enforcement personnel training requirements was transferred from the State Fire Administrator to the Secretary of State last year. As a result, the DCEA is developing a new Part 1208 training regulation for Code Enforcement Officials (CEO) and Code Compliance Technicians (CCT) in accordance with Executive law Article 18, Section 376-a.
In order to develop a regulation that best serves the interests of the code enforcement community, DCEA has established a Code Enforcement Training Work Group. The group has held two meetings and is serving as an advisor to staff in developing the draft regulation and rule making documents for the certification and training of code enforcement personnel.
