In-service Code training programs are now available online. These courses are approved by the State Fire Administrator for Code Enforcement In-service Training credits.
New York State certified code enforcement personnel are required to receive continuing education pursuant to 19 NYCRR Part 434. §434.7 states, "...code enforcement personnel shall annually receive a minimum of 24 hours of in-service training ...," §434.5(a)(2)(i) further specifies, "...For the purposes of satisfying such annual in-service training requirement, online training presentations . . . may be accepted for no more than 6 hours annually."
As a result, online training is now recognized as an acceptable format and means of obtaining up to a maximum of six (6) hours of New York State Code Enforcement In-service Training annually. Courses recognized for this purpose must be submitted by the provider and pre-approved by the Department of State prior to student participation. Although many courses may be available from the listed providers, only those programs specifically listed on this webpage have been pre-approved for on-line presentation, and only the programs specifically listed on this website can be applied toward the New York State Code Enforcement In-service Training requirement. Additional on-line training courses will be listed as they are approved and made available for this purpose in the future.
