Executive Summary of Reports for Calendar Year 2009

The Codes Division is pleased to present its annual Executive Summary of local government code enforcement and administration reports for calendar year 2008. In accordance with 19 NYCRR Part 1203, cities, villages, towns and counties that enforce the Uniform Code “shall annually submit to the Secretary of State... a report of its activities relative to administration and enforcement of the Uniform Code.” The Executive Summary represents a compilation of reports submitted by 1044 NYS municipalities between January 1 and October 1, 2009. This information will be used to establish overall the overall effectiveness by which local governments are meeting their obligation to enforce the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and State Energy Conservation Construction Code. It will also be used to monitor regional trends in code enforcement and to target delivery of services, technical assistance and educational courses to communities and areas of the state where it is most needed.

We hope you find this information both interesting and useful. If you have any comments on how this Executive Summary can better serve the interests of our communities and the state in the future, we welcome your feedback.
