New York Secretary of State Cesar A. Perales joined fellow senior staff members of the Cuomo Administration to volunteer around the state as New Yorkers gather to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
“As families across New York State come together to celebrate Thanksgiving and the blessings of the past year, it is important that we remember those who are less fortunate,” Governor Cuomo said. "New Yorkers have always been the first to lend a helping hand to their neighbors, and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, each of us should do all we can to help others.”
Secretary Perales joined with Kristin Proud, Deputy Secretary for Human Services, Technology and Operations to serve Thanksgiving dinner to more than 200 seniors in Troy on November 17. The event was hosted at the Troy Senior Center in Rensselaer County and was just one of many that will take place throughout the Thanksgiving holiday.
In addition, the Department of State is hosting its first Annual Holiday Food Drive Campaign from November 21 through December 19. By donating canned goods and other non-perishable food items, DOS employees can help feed seniors, adults, and children who are at risk of going hungry during the holiday season.
