Grant Opportunities

Our office provides grant opportunities to help local governments and community leaders to create sustainable and vibrant communities

Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) is the State’s first permanent fund dedicated to addressing a broad range of environmental and community development needs. Under this program, our office provides grants to eligible municipalities for planning, design, feasibility studies, and construction projects.

Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program provides municipalities and community based organizations with assistance to complete revitalization strategies for neighborhoods and areas affected by brownfields or economic distress. Through the Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program communities will have opportunities to return dormant areas back to productive use and simultaneously restore environmental quality.

Water Quality Planning and Implementation Grants (PIGs) program is designed to assist watershed communities in preparing or updating comprehensive plans, establishing or revising community development tools and local laws, and creating strategic plans for hamlets, villages, and other potentially developable areas within the Watershed. This program is open to East- and West-of-Hudson Watershed municipalities and is administered by the Albany Office staff.
