Secretary of State Perales to Announce CSBG Workforce Development Grant
Award Winners for Downstate Region
More than $2 million in aid statewide to provide job training, job skills development,
job placement and retention programs and ESL training
NEW YORK – Secretary Cesar A. Perales will be in Manhattan on Monday, December 19, 11:00AM at the Chinese-American Planning Council at 165 Eldridge Street (between Delancey and Rivington Street) in Manhattan to announce the 10 downstate recipients of Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) Workforce Development grants. More than $2 million in CSBG funds will enable Community Action Agencies throughout the state to provide underserved communities with a variety of employment related services including workforce development, job training, job skills development, job placement and retention programs, English as second language training, and financial and civic literacy programs.
The Secretary will tour the Chinese-American Planning Council facilities and meet with David Chen, Executive Director of the Planning Council. Members of the press are invited to join the Secretary for a walkthrough of the facilities and a media availability at the conclusion of the event. Press will be provided with a complete list of the downstate recipients of the CSBG recipients when they arrive.
The Secretary will hold a second event in Columbia County on Wednesday December 21st to announce the upstate recipients of the CSBG Workforce Development grants.
