Secretary of State Cesar Perales Joins with the Retail Council
to Inform Consumers of Things to Know When Shopping During the Holiday Season
Colonie Center in Albany is Scheduled Stop on November 30
Albany – Secretary of State Cesar A. Perales and Ted Potrikus, Executive Vice President of the Retail Council of New York will host a holiday shopping consumer event in the Center Court of the Colonie Center in Albany on Wednesday, November 30, at 4:00 p.m. They will be joined by staff from the Department of State’s Division of Consumer Protection who will offer consumers safety tips, holiday shopping advice and the latest information on toy safety and recalls.
The visit is intended to provide consumers with information on timely consumer topics including budgeting; refund policies; layaway plans and rebates; understanding the fine print of advertisements; online shopping tips; and the rules surrounding gift card purchases. The Division of Consumer Protection will distribute informational brochures and be available to answer questions. The event is the first of several that will be scheduled at malls throughout the state during the month of December.
