The New York State Division of Consumer Protection and the Mayor’s Office of Veteran’s Affairs Hosts Special Presentation in Observance of First Military Consumer Protection Day
Military Consumer Protection Day (MCPD) is a national initiative to empower active duty and retired servicemembers, military families, veterans and civilians in the military community.
July 12- Identity Theft has become a rapidly growing crime among the military community. Last year, members of the armed forces filed over 24,000 Identity Theft complaints with the Federal Trade Commission. The Division of Consumer Protection Identity Theft Mitigation Unit will hold a special presentation on Preventing and Responding to Identity Theft and it will provide valuable information on how to prevent scams targeting military personnel and their families.
