Why
Now in its third year, the Local Government Innovation Conference provides an opportunity to engage local government innovators who are “in the field” developing new opportunities to transform the delivery of local government services.  The program also strives to enhance local leaders’ appreciation for the power of data (both large and small) to impact long-term management.  This is also an opportunity to further develop the project pipeline for DOS funding programs, including the Local Government Efficiency Grant and the Municipal Restructuring Fund.
Sessions will include:

  • Leigh Tami, the Chief Performance Officer for the City of Cincinnati, to keynote the Local Government Innovation Conference.  Ms. Tami will share her experience reimagining city response to resident need and her experience writing data-based performance agreements with department heads and launching CincyInsights, a portal with 15 dashboards created in-house for $55,000.
  • Workshops with local government officials working to transform services in health insurance, emergency management services and court systems.
  • Workshops focused on strategies officials can employ to invest smartly in their information infrastructure and improve outcomes for the public and lower the cost of delivering public services.  Topics include: Data as a Strategic Asset, How Local Government Officials Got Started, and Local Highway Data.
