The six instructors in the Educational Services Unit travel throughout New York State providing the basic training required for initial certification as a Code Enforcement Official (CEO), and developing and delivering in-service training programs for maintaining that certification. Instructors also participate in and/or attend numerous conferences and seminars offered throughout the year.
While priority for seats in DBSC courses is given to code enforcement officials, where space allows, design professionals, builders and contractors, and the general public are welcome to attend.
Courses offered by DBSC staff are accredited for CEU's by the New York State Education Department.
The Educational Services Unit also reviews and approves Code-related courses submitted by private providers for in-service credit.
