NYS Department of State and Oneida County NY Rising Planning Committee to Host Open House
An open house will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 6:30-8:30pm in Oneida County to discuss the development of a Countywide Resiliency Strategy that will identify a range of resiliency actions that can be taken to better prepare for future storms. Part of the effort is to identify projects needed to continue recovery from the severe summer storms of 2013 to be funded with up to $3 million of allocated New York State capital funds slated for Oneida County.
The open house will take place at the Whitesboro Fire Department, 171 Oriskany Blvd., Whitesboro, New York 13492. Representatives of the Department of State, along with members of the NY Rising project Planning Committee and local elected officials, will be on hand to discuss the program, schedule, components, and expected outcomes with the public.
The NY Rising Program is designed to empower communities affected by storms by creating and implementing locally created strategies for rebuilding, as well as to strengthen communities against future extreme weather events. The strategies will be based on the needs of the county and developed by the NY Rising Oneida County Planning Committee, community leaders, experts and officials.
