NY Department of State and NY Rising Planning Committee to Host Meeting in Niagara County
The New York State Department of State will host a public meeting on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 7:00pm in Niagara County to discuss the development of a Countywide Resiliency Strategy that will identify a range of resiliency actions that can be taken to better prepare for future storms. Part of the effort is to identify projects needed to continue recovery from the severe summer storms of 2013 to be funded with up to $3 million of allocated capital funds slated for Niagara County.
The meeting will take place at Niagara County Community College Fine Arts Theater. Representatives of the Department of State, along with members of the project Planning Committee and local elected officials, will be on hand to introduce the project, schedule, components, and expected outcomes to the public.
The NY Rising Program is designed to empower communities affected by storms, to create and implement locally created strategies for rebuilding and strengthening their communities against future extreme weather events. The strategies will be based on the needs of the county and developed by the NY Rising Niagara County Planning Committee, community leaders, experts and officials.
